Activity 6: Google Classroom

Google Classroom is Amazing!  I think the thing I love most about Google Classroom is that is constantly changing for the better.  They are listening to what teachers need, and accommodating to those needs!  I have used Google Classroom for reading, writing, math and homeroom classes.  I absolutely HATE paper documents floating around.  I am horrible at organizing paper.  Google Classroom is an awesome vehicle to distribute information, as well as receive answers.

Google Classroom can be used to easily distribute a link to a website that you want your students to go to.  Before Google Classroom was released, I was dabbling with Doctopus and Goobric.  Doctopus was a way to distribute documents to students like a virtual copy machine; however it was not as user-friendly as Google Classroom is.  I jumped for joy when I learned that some magical person finally made a connection with Google Classroom and Goobric.

One of my favorite things I did using Google Classroom was for a writing assignment.  I wanted students to be able to edit and make comments on each other's work.  I created a document that everyone could edit, and posted it as an assignment in Google Classroom.  From there, students had to put a link to their writing project on the shared document, as well as change the permissions on their writing work so that others could view and comment on it.  From there, students interacted with the shared doc in order to read other student's work, and make comments as they went.

Google Classroom was a critical part of my instruction last year, and I look forward to growing and expanding my knowledge.

  1. I have completed assignments in your Google classroom. I enjoyed writing about my recipe and I think your idea for a group document where everyone puts their writing project links so they can view and comment on each others is a great one.
