I was lucky enough to work with an amazing group! We had so many ideas, and could have spent 10 hours working on things we want to create. We knew we didn't have 10 hours, so we had to think about what would really be most beneficial to a larger audience. We come from a building that is overall pretty tech savvy. We have been lucky enough to have had some school-wide PD around technology. We also wanted to create something that would ACTUALLY be useful to teachers, and possibly students as well. We realized that there are a lot of great apps and websites out there that teachers want to use, but they have a hard time getting their students to the right website. We put together a QR code Quick Links page to help with this.
The QR code Quick Links page has many AMAZING features! It obviously has QR code links on it for easy access from any device with a QR code reader. This page could be printed out, placed around the room, or taped to a student's folder.
The QR code Quick Links page also has hyperlinks embedded in the title of the website. This way, the QR code Quick Links page could be used digitally as well. It could be placed on a website, or saved to a student's drive.
Lastly, we added images of each website. We did this mainly for younger elementary students, or even those that may not be a strong reader. We are hoping this helps ease teachers' anxiety about using these websites with their students!
This is a very unique take on this assignment. I like the idea of what you are trying to accomplish and I like that you thought about having both a paper copy that utilize the QR codes and the digital copy which would utilize the links. My one suggestion would be to make different versions of this document for different audiences. The version you have could be the student version which you could add to when you find new resources for the students to use. You could make a parent version which would be essentially the same as the student version but might have a short blurb for each tool telling parents what the tool is or how it is used in class. Then you could have a third version that focuses more on tools that teachers would use. This version could have a link the the tool and a second link to a tutorial about the tool (if the tool requires any training).
ReplyDeleteI like the outside the box thinking and how your group worked together to move yourselves in that direction.
