Activity 3: Screencasting and MV Youtube

PART 1:
I used the Google add on Screencastify to complete my screencast.  It was super easy, and linked everything to both my Google Drive and my MV Youtube channel.  I chose to do a quick screencast about creating a Google Doc.  At the beginning of 3rd Grade, there are many students still getting to know their Google Drive.  Screencasts are a perfect way to help them get oriented.  I thought this would be a harder process than it was, but I think I can easily create more in depth ones now!

PART 2:
For part 2, I decided to create a screencast on making apps easier to access by moving them to the bottom bar of the Chromebook screen.  I again used Screencastify to create this screencast.  I did capture my whole desktop view for this instead of an individual tab.  What I didnt realize is that it was recording the image of the Screencastify add-on that was doing the recording.  I wished I would have minimized the small tab sooner, but at least I know now that it is important to do that if you are recording your whole screen.

  2. I am glad that it was a fairly easy process for you. I also think that it is a good idea to use screencasts to show students how to use Google Drive, a little using technology to teach technology idea.

What are some of the other things that you might use screencasts for with 3rd graders?

  3. Thanks for the tip on using screencastify for screencasts. It was really quite easy and intuitive! Much less intimidating than I was anticipating.

  4. I used screencastify, too! So easy. I really liked your idea about using a screencast to help students navigate using google docs. I will definitely have to do that this upcoming year.
