Why Blog?
There are many exciting ways to use a blog in your classroom, especially if you are utilizing Chromebooks in the classroom. A blog is a nice home base where you can organize information your students will need to know. You could even embed a Google Calendar that will list the homework for each of your classes everyday! The pages make it easy to separate different topics, and you can link websites to each page. It is almost like a digital filing system that keeps track of your digital files.
Blogs can also be a great place to house videos you show your students. They love going on and re-watching them. Here is one of my favorite videos to show my math class. I use it to help teach unit fractions. I love that it shows visuals of the fractions that are being shown. Not to mention the catchy tune that you will be singing all day!

You have a lot of good ideas listed for how you can use blogs. I am curious, what of these ideas do you currently use or do you think you will use next year? Also, do you have any thoughts about using blogs for parent communication of maybe other non-blog communication methods?
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of embedding a Google calendar onto the blog, listing homework, etc. for easy reference by students and parents. However, how easy is this to do? And is it really easy and quick to update every day? I don't foresee utilizing it much (or efficiently, for that matter) if adding information or assignments to the the calendar was cumbersome.
ReplyDeleteI never thought of embedding a google calendar! That is a great idea!
